brutal by Olivia Rodrigo
seriously obsessed with this album, and especially with this opening track. it’s brutal out there.
Little Sister by Queens of the Stone Age
i often come back to this song — the drums are the reason to listen to this song.
Autoclave by The Mountain Goats
The Mountain Goats were introduced to me by Tyler Jenke, a guest we had on the show (and the Rolling Stone Australia editor), and i loved this track especially from them.
LEMONHEAD by Tyler, The Creator
incredible album, and one of my favs off it.
Interior People by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
this album is weird and glorious and so easy to listen to. this song especially stays on repeat for me.
Celebration by Logic
love the album. literally just discovered Logic this year, and now i am streaming his entire library of music, all the time.
Aerials by System of a Down
i decided around this time that i wanted to learn how to play the drums — i love rock music so much that it makes perfect sense for me to learn how to play! so of course i started streaming music that had incredible drums, so SOAD made its reappearance in my life. i used to run to this music back in the day, and loved its energy.
The Outsider by A Perfect Circle
once i started down the rock rabbit hole, it didn’t take me long to start to listen to A Perfect Circle again, and fall in love with this song again.
Heavy Metal Drummer by Wilco
we recorded an episode as guests on the podcast You Forgot One, and i was introduced to Wilco in the course of that recording — which, i know, i can’t believe it took me that long to listen to them. but this was one of my favorites off the album.
OK Overture by AJR
this song is brilliant — it literally acts as an overture for the album, mixing in elements from the songs to come. and it is so catchy and fun and high energy, and just perfect for an intro track.
INDUSTRY BABY by Lil Nas X & Jack Harlow
so catchy, so poppy, so wonderful.
Justine Go Genesis by Sleigh Bells
Sleigh Bells got me through my graduate program and many many hours of coding. incredibly high energy, mind melting guitar riffs, and so much more. soooo happy they are making more music!
Want You Back by HAIM
Since I Left You by The Avalanches
the whole album, shout out to this week’s guest, Tyler Jenke, for the recommendation!
Rusty Old American Dream by Pat Green
Only a Day by Ben Kweller
Favorite Thing by The Replacements
The Modern Age by The Strokes
Change by The Lightning Seeds
Pumping On Your Stereo by Supergrass
been doing a deep dive into 90s BritPop since our podcast with Mark from Subba!
Highway to Hell by Tom Morello, Eddie Vedder, and Bruce Springsteen
Longer Than You’ve Been Alive by Old 97's
I’ll Let You Down (But Will Not Give You Up) by the Wallflowers
The Dropouts by Old 97’s
